What AD Editors Are Looking Forward to at the AD Design Show

by David Stewart

Each March, designers, editors, and inspired homeowners descend on Pier 94 in New York for the annual Architectural Digest Design Show. Now in its 16th year, the trade show is a one-stop resource for decorators, shopkeepers, and home renovators, spanning everything from appliances to handmade accessories, art, furniture, and lighting. In addition to the hundreds of vendors, the show space is also home to the Jenn-Air Master Class studio, which will host lectures and panel discussions by some of the brightest creative minds, as well as the Architectural Digest lounge, which this year has been transformed into a modern apartment by designer Shawn Henderson. A pier over, DIFFA mounts Dining by Design, a whirlwind display of creativity by some of the industry's hottest talents and brands. In anticipation of the show, which runs March 16–19, our editors weigh in on what they're most looking forward to this year. Design enthusiasts, mark your calendars!

"I can't wait to see who shows up in the MADE section this year. It's always one of my favorite places to discover new talent and see the latest designs from some of my perennial favorites (a few of whom I've discovered there in past years)." —Hannah Martin, senior design writer

"I missed KBIS this year, so I’m excited to see the new kitchen and bath trends in person. The kitchen and bath world is always innovating, so there are always new trends to see here." —Kathryn Given, associate market editor

"I’m looking forward to hearing Ken Fulk, Lela Rose, and Laura Dowling talk about 'the perfect party.' I love a party, and I know these three do as well." —Madeline O'Malley, assistant market editor. "High Design Entertaining and the Perfect Party" will take place March 18 at 3:30 p.m.

"The AD lounge is so fun and different each year; I can't wait to see what Shawn Henderson comes up with this time around. I'm sure it will be a great place to relax in between finding new trends at the show." —Parker Larson, market director

"I can’t wait to hear AD ’s own Testy Tastemaker Mayer Rus talk Prouvé with design dealers Suzanne Demisch and Evan Snyderman—plus decorator Tony Ingrao—during a panel about what to collect now." —Sam Cochran, features editor. "What Will the Market Bear?," a discussion on the current design market, takes place March 16 at 2 p.m.

"It's always so much fun to see the wildly creative tables at Dining by Design , where companies and designers envision over-the-top tablescapes, each one more festive than the last. The best part? All proceeds benefit DIFFA, the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, to help fund AIDS and HIV research." —Hadley Keller, digital design reporter
